I am currently an Associate Professor specialized in Vegetable Crops from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus (UPRM). My tasks are divided in 75% in extension (outreach) and 25% in research. I obtained a BS in agricultural education from the UPRM and worked as an Agriculture Teacher at a Junior High School in Barranquitas, PR. I completed my master’s degree in plant pathology and a doctorate degree in horticulture with an entomology minor from The Pennsylvania State University.
My research and extension program focus in sustainable management practices of vegetable production using compost, cover crops and biological controls. As the Vegetable Extension Specialist my job is to train extension educators and to give growers and stakeholders scientific base information about the production and management of important vegetable crops in Puerto Rico.
